Summers are Cool at Avalon Middle School!!!

For the summer of 2024, will be offering a variety of fun and academically enriching programs for students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.



For Rising 6th Graders - PUPPY CAMP!
Puppy Camp has been a fan favorite for students entering Avalon Middle School for as long as the school has been open. Rising 6th graders will have the opportunity to spend a week on our campus, get the lay of the land, learn our expectations, and meet new friends. All of the objectives are met through carefully planned, engaging, hands-on activities led by our amazing staff. Hours of camp operation are 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.  Breakfast (9 am) and lunch are included. While the program is free of charge to students, we asking for a suggested optional donation of $20 per family to help offset supply costs for some of the activities. Donations can be made through School Pay.

To join us for Puppy Camp, you will need to sign up for one of the two weeks we will be offering the camp and you must complete the registration form.

We welcome high school student volunteers, but all volunteers must be approved prior to the start of Puppy Camp. Interested volunteers must be ADDitions approved and need to complete the Puppy Camp Volunteer Application (coming soon).



For Rising 7th Graders -Civics Debate Camp
Civics Debate camp is a month long program for rising 7th graders and will give them the opportunity to roleplay as Congressional Representatives, Simulate a Presidential election, and participate in a mock trial. Students will learn how to research and argue, improve their civic literacy and become proficient in key Civics and Government standards. 

Civics Debate Camp will run from Monday, June 3rd through Thursday, June 27th. School is closed on Fridays. Hours of camp operation are 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. Students are expected to attend at least 14 out of the 16 days.

Breakfast (9 am) and lunch are included. While the program is free of charge to students, we asking for a suggested optional donation of $20 per family to help offset supply costs for some of the activities. Donations can be made through School Pay.

For Rising 8th Graders - STEM Camp
STEM Camp is a month long program for rising 8th graders and through a partnership with the Aldrin Family Foundation, students will have the opportunity to build and test physical rockets, design and test virtual rockets using Kerbal Space Program EDU, code and conduct a rover to overcome challenges on a Giant Moon Map, design and build a lunar settlement, and go on a field trip to the Kennedy Space Center.

STEM Camp will run from Monday, June 3rd through Thursday, June 27th. School is closed on Fridays. Hours of camp operation are 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. Students are expected to attend at least 14 out of the 16 days.

For Rising 7th and 8th Graders - Math Camp
Math Camp is a month long program for rising 7th and 8th graders aimed at preparing students for the upcoming school year. Through frontloading of new concepts students will be prepared to ace math right from the first day of school.

Math Camp will run from Monday, June 3rd through Thursday, June 27th. School is closed on Fridays. Hours of camp operation are 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. Students are expected to attend at least 14 out of the 16 days.

YMCA Summer Zone 2024

The YMCA program will also be available this summer June 3 through July 25 (No camp July 1-5) from the hours of 8 am through 5 pm. This is a great option in addition to the programs we are offering at AMS especially during weeks where wraparound care is needed.
