Good afternoon, Husky Families!

This week we had another exciting week to be a Husky!  I have seen engaging, hands on and exciting classroom lessons that are having an impact on our students everyday.  PLTW did their ice cream lab this week, shout out to Mr. Walsh and Ms. Ludwick for keeping up with doing that for so many students.  Also 6th grade Science classes were doing some exciting reviews for their test this week just to name a few of the great things I got to witness first hand!  We also had an amazing parade from our students to kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month!  Thank you to Ms. Villegas and Ms. Rexach for having your students represent all Hispanic countries!   

Kudos to our boys and girls soccer teams at they both have locked up a playoff spot and are both Cluster Champions each winning their division.  Both teams needed some heroics to get there.  The girls team tied Timber Springs with a penalty kick as the game ended.  Also the boys went to Penalty Kicks against legacy to secure the boys championship.  Both teams now will compete to win the Eastern Division and County Championships.  

This upcoming week we have our Start with Hello week where we will focus on Kindness, being inclusive, and respectful!  See the flyer below for each information about each day.  Monday is picture day (info below)and Thursday we will have a modified bell schedule (included below) for Resiliency Day.  

Also if you get a chance please consider taking your family to Gen Korean BBQ in Waterford Lakes any day this week and mention AMS when you go.  They have partnered to do a week long Spirit week for us during Start with Hello Week.  Big Thank you to them for the support!

This week if you are looking for a place to go to dinner please consider going to Gen Korean BBQ in Waterford Lakes.  As a Partner in Education they have agreed to have a whole week of give backs for our school to coordinate with our Start with Hello week!  Please don't forget to mention Avalon Middle School when you go so we can get the credit!  

Avalon Middle School Students dressed up this week to kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month.  Students represented all Hispanic Countries.  Students and some staff had a parade around campus this week to kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month which runs from the middle of September to the middle of October.  Thank you to all who participated.  

Ready to build, design, and create? The PLTW (Project Lead The Way) Club is kicking off the school year with hands-on STEM activities, including rocketry, robotics, 3D printing, CAD, and more!

Important Note for Parents & Students: A signed parental consent form is required for students to participate in club activities. 

Creative Butterfly Club will meet Wednesday's after school.  If you are interested see Ms. Alejo and turn in your permission slip.  

Dress Rehearsal for Jr. Thespians’ Winter Showcase is November 2 from 4-6 in the cafeteria.

Jr. Thespians’ Winter Showcase is November 3 at 6:00 in the cafeteria.

Jr. Thespians District Festival is Saturday, November 7th at University High School. 

Students will take their pictures during their PE class.  Any student who does not have PE will come down during their 1st elective class.  Students brought home picture forms this week that they received in 1st period.  We also offered a picture form at lunches Friday to any student who may have been absent and didn't receive one.  I have also included a visual of it below if needed.

All OCPS students will eat for “No Charge” in schools this year. Our “Breakfast Grab n Go” will be available daily at the bus loop and in the courtyard. Lunch will be available in our beautiful café to all students. We will also be selling many a la carte items that can be paid for with cash, check, or credit card through School Pay. Any additional money will go directly into the student's account for future purchases.

Any student requiring a special diet due to allergies/special needs, please complete the "Special Diet Order" form. Once approved by our FNS Nutritionist, we will be able to prepare meals. All special diet breakfast and lunch meals will be served on the line with the yellow dangler. Look for the cashier wearing a “Yellow Apron".
