Good afternoon, Husky Families!

Congratulations to our soccer teams as they both started the school year 2-0 with wins against Legacy and Corner Lake.  This week we play Wednesday at home vs Discovery, come out to support our teams.

Do you love Avalon Middle School?  Do you love sports?  Have you considered donating to our athletics department?  They are currently doing a beginning of the year fundraiser and could use some love!  See below in the Athletics section to help them out!  

Just a reminder that this past Friday ended the time frame for students to use their e-bikes and e-scooters.  Starting this Tuesday they are not allowed on campus and students will start to receive consequences for bringing them on to campus.  You can scroll down to Bike Rider Information which includes a list of the consequences for students who show up with an e-bike or e-scooter.  Please also encourage your student to not ride them close to school and hide them in the bushes, or along other fences.  The likelihood of them being stolen is very high, since they are generally expensive devices.  Please be patient in carline as we may experience a little longer line for the next week or so.  

Please help us support a safe school and safe school community by following traffic laws.  Do not drop off or pick up your students on Mailer Blvd.  Please enter our carline to pick up and drop off your student.  There are signs posted all along Mailer Blvd to support that safety.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

Your donations directly support our athletes by helping provide essential equipment, facility/field improvements, athletic training supplies, celebrations/awards, and much more. We are investing in the overall student experience at Avalon Middle School—a strong athletic program builds school spirit, teamwork, leadership, school pride, and a stronger sense of community for everyone.

Ready to build, design, and create? The PLTW (Project Lead The Way) Club is kicking off the school year with hands-on STEM activities, including rocketry, robotics, 3D printing, CAD, and more!

Important Note for Parents & Students: A signed parental consent form is required for students to participate in club activities. 

Creative Butterfly Club will meet starting Wednesday September 9th.  If you are interested see Ms. Alejo and turn in your permission slip.  

Dress Rehearsal for Jr. Thespians’ Winter Showcase is November 2 from 4-6 in the cafeteria.

Jr. Thespians’ Winter Showcase is November 3 at 6:00 in the cafeteria.

Reminder: E-Scooters and E-Bikes will not be allowed to be used a mode of transportation to and from school. Families have until September 8th to transition to a new mode of transportation for their student, which means starting Tuesday they are no longer allowed.  

 

If your school students ride a Bike to school, please take time to review safety procedures with them and ensure they understand the rules and regulations that apply. Safe riding practices help protect not only your student but also others on the road and sidewalks.

Safety Reminders for Families:

• Helmets are strongly encouraged (and required by law for riders under 16).

• Riders should obey all traffic signals and posted signs. 

• Riders should dismount their Bike before crossing a crosswalk.

• Night riding requires lights and reflective gear for visibility.

 

Please ensure that your student locks their transportation appropriately in the designated bike rack. OCPS is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to devices brought onto its property.

All OCPS students will eat for “No Charge” in schools this year. Our “Breakfast Grab n Go” will be available daily at the bus loop and in the courtyard. Lunch will be available in our beautiful café to all students. We will also be selling many a la carte items that can be paid for with cash, check, or credit card through School Pay. Any additional money will go directly into the student's account for future purchases.

Any student requiring a special diet due to allergies/special needs, please complete the "Special Diet Order" form. Once approved by our FNS Nutritionist, we will be able to prepare meals. All special diet breakfast and lunch meals will be served on the line with the yellow dangler. Look for the cashier wearing a “Yellow Apron".
