AMS Material Collection / Drop Off Days

Parents / students will be able to come to campus next week according to the schedule below to pick up / drop off key materials. Materials for drop off include musical instruments, materials borrowed from teachers, textbooks, and Media Center books. Items to pick up will include locker room items, certificates for 8th Grade Evening of Excellence students, and any critical items a student has left in a teacher’s classroom.

Schedule:

8 a.m. - 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. each day.

*Thursday – May 21 – Students with last names A-M.

*Friday – May 22 – Students with last names N-Z.

Drop off of musical instruments will take place in the bus loop whereas all other drop offs/pickups will happen in the parent car line area. In order to make the process run smoothly, please follow the directions of signs and AMS personnel.

If students need to pick up items from a teacher’s classroom, you must first email Ms. Rios (irene.rios@ocps.net) by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 19, with a list of the specific items they wish to retrieve and the location in each teacher’s classroom so that we can gather these items ahead of time and have them ready. Also, if you are returning items such as materials borrowed from teachers, Media Center books, etc., then please place them in a bag and have the items clearly labeled with your child's name and the name of the teacher who needs to get the items.

IMPORTANT NOTE: While we love our students, it is important that we follow social distancing and health, safety guidelines during this process. Unfortunately, this means that our AMS volunteers will not be able to shake hands, hug or have any physical contact with our students. We also encourage you and your child to wear masks if you have them. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Memory Books

We received the following message from LifeTouch in regard to our memory books. We will send you updates as soon as they are available.

As COVID-19 has changed the way we live from day to day, we made a promise to you to keep you informed about your Yearbook. At this time, due to COVID-19, we have had government-mandated shut-downs that have reduced our capacity for printing yearbooks. As we work to safely return to our production facilities, be assured that everyone who ordered a yearbook will receive one. However, in certain instances the delivery of your yearbook may be delayed.

A representative from Lifetouch will contact your school requesting shipping instructions in the coming weeks. Additionally, you may be contacted again when we have tracking information that can verify that your yearbook has left our production facility.

Student Devices

All returning students in grades 3 through 11, who currently have an OCPS laptop at home, will retain their device during the summer in preparation for the 2020-2021 school year.

If your child is withdrawing to attend another OCPS school or another county/state, please set an appointment to return their device to AMS prior to the completion of the withdrawal process.

If your child's device needs to be repaired or replaced, please complete the process at your child's 2019-2020 school site. Students can begin the process by creating a ticket at http://studenttechrequest.ocps.net. The ticket will go to your child's 2020-21 school site.

In addition to these selections, we are requesting that you read at least 3 of the Sunshine State Books.

Students can also track their minutes and books using Beanstack through Launchpad using the challenge “OCPS Summer Reading 2020-AMS”. First place prize for the OCPS Beanstack challenge is a Kindle!

Students that complete at least 5 books, will be invited to the summer reading ice cream social during the 1st nine weeks of school.
